The Centre for Wildlife Management has been active with community support programmes.
Comprehensive research projects include:

• A management plan for the new national park in Qwa­Qwa (Free State) which included the ecotourism management.

• A study in conjunction with the Development Bank of Southern Africa on alternative forms of land use in the Mhala tribal lands of Mpumalanga.

• A study to assist the Masemola tribe of Northern Province to establish a nature reserve on their land and to create an income from game utilisation and ecotourism.
